Business Loan Calculator

Estimate what a business loan costs each month. Enter the amount, pick a term, and use the one verified lender APR we track — or enter a rate from your own bank quote.

An honest note: only one of the five business lenders we track publishes an APR (American Express, 6.98%, verified November 2026). The calculator works fully with any custom APR you enter, and quote-only lenders are listed below — never ranked on invented rates.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the loan amount — how much your business needs to borrow.
  2. Pick a term — 12 to 84 months.
  3. Choose an APR — use American Express's verified 6.98% APR, or select Custom APR and type in any rate a lender quoted you.
  4. Press Calculate — your monthly payment, total interest, and total cost appear, followed by the verified-rate comparison.

The payment formula

Business term loans amortize with the standard fixed-payment formula:

M = P·r(1+r)n / ((1+r)n − 1)

where P is the loan amount, r is the monthly rate (APR ÷ 12), and n is the number of monthly payments. The calculator applies the same math whether you use the verified Amex rate or your own custom APR.

Worked example

A $50,000 business loan at 6.98% APR (American Express's verified November 2026 starting rate) over 36 months:

Enter the same figures above to confirm the match.

Why only one verified rate — our honesty policy

Rates are re-verified every month against each lender's own website. This cycle covers November 2026, checked on November 1, 2026.

Of the five business lenders we track, only American Express publishes an APR. Chase, Bank of America, U.S. Bank, and Capital One price business term loans by personalized quote. We would rather show you one real number and a working calculator than a five-lender table built on estimates. Comparisons rank by true total cost (monthly payment × term + fees), and quote-only lenders are labeled Quote required — never ranked on invented figures.

A note on advice

This calculator is educational and does not constitute financial advice. Published rates are starting rates for the month shown; your actual offer will depend on your business's credit profile, revenue, and time in business.

Frequently asked questions

Why is only one business lender ranked?

It is — and we say so plainly. Of the five business lenders we track, only American Express publishes an APR (6.98%, verified November 2026). Chase, Bank of America, U.S. Bank, and Capital One price by personalized quote. Ranking them on estimated rates would be inventing data.

Who qualifies for the Amex business loan?

The Amex Business Loan is for eligible American Express business card members, with loan amounts from $3,500 to $75,000 and terms of 12, 24, or 36 months. The published APR range starts at 6.98%.

Can I use this calculator with a quote I got from another bank?

Yes — that is exactly what the Custom APR option is for. Type any quoted rate in and the calculator shows the monthly payment, total interest, and total cost, which you can weigh against Amex's verified 6.98% APR.

Why not estimate rates for the quote-only lenders?

Because it would be dishonest. U.S. Bank does publish interest rates (7.99% to 11.99%) for its secured Quick Loan, but not a term-loan APR — and an interest rate is not an APR. Every ranked figure on this site is a lender's own published APR or nothing at all.

Is 6.98% my guaranteed rate?

No. The 6.98% figure is Amex's published starting APR for November 2026, checked on Amex's own website — not a personalized offer. The content is educational, not financial advice.
